square foot garden

We had the most gorgeous Memorial Day weekend here in the northeast, and Danny and I were able to get a lot of things done around the house. That included finishing our garden. I read a book called My Square Foot Garden by Mel Bartholomew that a friend recommended because our backyard has grubs and moles and is really really wet so we didn't want to dig into our yard... but build up! Hopefully it works out :) Here are some pictures...

Danny showing Mason how to use the hose to wet down our pile of "dirt"

Danny mixing our combo of compost and peat moss and other stuff to put in our box

our box is filled and "squared" off with twine

Mason helping me (actually trying to steal the shovel) to level off the soil

picking out the seeds

putting the seed in the hole

he was so cute and careful about putting the seeds in the hole, he kept signing more, more!

patting down the soil to cover the seeds

Overall Mason was good and helpful... until he got mad and threw a whole bunch of carrots seeds all over. Oh and I was special and planted melons and green beans in the same square so that should be interesting when they start growing!!! I can't wait to see if something actually sprouts in the next couple of weeks :)

new background

Do you like my new background? I finally got around to changing all by myself. Usually my friend Jessica does it for me but she is famous now making bows and such. She gave some awesome instructions if you are interested.

I don't really like the header I did but hey it is my first time! I am trying to get my feet wet in digital scrapbooking before the baby comes :) so we will see how that goes....

grass feet

Since I am on a blogging rampage, and Mason is still sleeping :), I thought I would post one more picture... Our lawn mower does not have a bag so just shoots the grass back into the lawn. Mason and I were watching daddy mow on the hill when he started to get frustrated because pieces of grass were getting stuck in his sandals. So being the nice mommy I am I took off his shoes and well he liked that even less. Freshly mowed wet grass + bare feet = unhappy Mason! Hahaha, I love the face :)

34 weeks

Here I am at 34 weeks :) Baby girl is getting big and likes to kick my ribs!

Mother's Day

I think I am the luckiest mama in the world to have this cute little red haired boy obsessively follow me around all day :) and he is so sweet to bring me some flowers!

Also wanted to say to my mom that I love you!!! You are the best mommy in the world :) And to my mother in-law Denise, you raised a wonderful son I am so glad I could be a part of your family as well :)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

coworker babies and dog show

One of Danny's coworkers an his wife run dog agility shows on the weekends. There was one close so we thought we would join in on the fun especially because Mason loves dogs! It was fun seeing Roy and Alex, the coworker babies, play together :)

Mason 18 months

Alex 17 months

Roy 15 months

Even though Mason loves dogs, the funnest thing to do was play on this ramp with his friends... throwing balls and driving cars up and down.

Then later they found this red box...

Here are Danny's coworkers with their babies. Matt and Alex, Cory and Roy, Danny and Mason :)

Cooling off when its hot!
I love the first one, they are just standing there taking the hit from the hose :)

Our neighbors from across the street gave us this little play house since their boys had outgrown it. Mason has so much fun playing in it... here are some pictures of Mason and his friend Tea and Gabe.

Fathers & Sons Outing

So I just got back from the campgrounds and April wanted me to post the experience...

We are only planning on staying for the nightly activities because we have other plans on Saturday, so as soon as Mason and I arrived we started to play in the camp fire. As you can imagine, he liked waving around sticks that smoked.

Of course dozens of kids screaming and running through the trees entertained him as well, which only lasted a few minutes because we were quickly attacked by small balls of hail and a lingering rain storm. Although this just gave us time to consume lots of marshmellows!

The rain stopped just in time for the fireside, the speaker did a great job of involving the youth and getting cheers from the audience which Mason loved to participate by clapping and yelling. During introductions, a quick survey was taken for fun to see who had been coming to the camp for the most years, who was the old person there and Mason won for The Youngest!

While goofing around, one of the youth noticed that Mason wasn't effectively throwing a rock. So the youth tried helping Mason swing his arms really hard and accidently loosing his balance and Mason fell on his face. Because it was past his bed time he started crying so I instantly put his head on my shoulder and took him away from the crowd to calm him down. Within a few minutes I hear him chopping on something like ice...to my surprise he had a mouth full of tiny rocks. After using my finger to remove all of them out of his mouth, I next moved to his nose and think I got all the pebbles out.

We'll find out in the morning if he still has any other hidden souvenirs from his first wilderness experience!

video time...

at the park

A couple Saturday's ago when it decided to be "summer" and 90 degrees outside we thought we would take advantage and take Mason to the park. It is nice that Mason is now old enough to enjoy the park, his favorite thing is the slides... and by the end he was getting really brave and would go down the big kid slides all by himself :)

Here I am, all ready!

wee!!!

check out the smile

checking out the ducks and fish

and of course we had to splash in the puddle :)
