Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was much different for us this year as we stayed in NY to celebrate with our small little family. We of course were sad that we could not be with all of our families, but it was nice to start our own traditions and memories now that the kids are getting older.

Mason was so much fun this year, really getting into the Christmas spirit. He helped me make cookies for our friends and neighbors. He loved watching Christmas movies and figured out who Santa Claus is (he even called this big guy with a beard Santa while we were at a restaurant! haha) Most importantly we tried to reinforce the true meaning of Christmas and tried to teach him about baby Jesus being born.

We had a nativity out for him to play with and he knew Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and "the other guys" the three wise men. I was a little worried that he knew more about Santa than Jesus so on Christmas Eve we watched "The Nativity" as a family. Mason payed attention the whole time, and at the end when Mary is laying with the baby and Joseph comes and kneels by them, Mason ran to get the characters of his nativity and handed us them and called them by name. It was a wonderful spiritual experience. I love my little man so much, and I can't believe how much he has grown up this last year.

After we watched the movie we had our baths early and came down to open one present. Mason still hadn't got what the colorful boxes were under the tree. But he soon figured it out! Here are some pictures of the kids:

Wondering what they are supposed to do with these boxes...
Mason figured it out, Lily is still wondering...
After daddy's help Lily, er, figures it out... well she at least found something else to put in her mouth!

Haha, this is how she was all Christmas morning, chowing down on the wrapping paper! Funny girl!

Lily 6 months

My baby girl turned 6 months old yesterday! I can't believe how time flies. It is so much fun watching her grow up and learn new things. Here are some fun things she has been up to this month:

She will put anything in her mouth if it is close enough to grab!
She loves her brother!

She got her first tooth on December 14th and is currently working on her second (hopefully it comes soon so I can get some sleep)

She is sitting pretty! She is sturdy enough now that I don't have to be right next to her :) I love this age when babies sit and can't move!
She is still a good sleeper for the most part. She got really sick and then the tooth came in so we had a few sleepless nights. Luckily she is going back to sleeping through the night, phew!

She is still iffy with naps... maybe once or twice a week she will sleep longer than 45mins for 1 of her 3 naps during the day (though I never know when that will be so I can take a nap too :( )

She still doesn't roll over much, just hangs out in whatever position I set her down (ie tummy, back, sitting etc)

She has turned into a little growler, it is pretty funny because she mostly does it when she is happy.

She had her first taste of solid food yesterday... she ate almost the whole bowl of rice cereal, well considering that 1/2 of it ended up on the front of her.

I don't know her stats yet, her appointment isn't until next year :)

We love you baby girl! Happy 6 month Birthday :)

Christmas outfits

Last week after church I thought I would try and grab a quick picture of the kids while they were in their Christmas outfits (my talented mama made Lily's dress!) They turned out pretty well especially considering Mason was super tired and ready for a nap!

I love this age when babies can sit up but not move!

This is what happens if you bring anything with in reach of Lily!

This is the best picture I could get of the two of them... Mason smile is kinda weird but still nice that they are both smiling :)

Daddy is so much fun :)

Lily's dress is fun to play with

Awe, kiss from big brother!

funny faces

Man I love these chicklets!

Merry Christmas!

First snow

We had the first snow of the season at the beginning of December. I wasn't too excited because snow marks the beginning of our never ending winter :( But Mason loves, loves, LOVES the snow so that made it better!

Putting on his snowsuit

Daddy helping with his hat

His favorite thing was to eat the snow

Lily loved to watch him play :)

The other funny thing Mason did was try and wipe all the snow off everything... like his chair and outside cars, it was pretty funny especially since it was snowing really hard so he couldn't keep up! Cute boy, hopefully his joyfulness will help the winter seem shorter!

Goodbye November

The last day of November was a beautiful day, we took advantage and went exploring...

Now off to winter!

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we went to our friends house from our ward. It was so much fun to spend the afternoon with them! Great food and fun. Robyn LOVED Lily, and Lily loved the attention she got :) Mason had so much fun playing with Lawson and all his fun boy toys! It was a great day with yummy food and lovely friends!

Lawson and Robyn made up a Thanksgiving skit. It was so cute. Their mom and dad didn't even know about it so it was a surprise for all :)

Thanks for the fun day Vests!

finding pumpkin

Behind our house there is a forest. Danny likes to take Mason and explore. One time Danny decided to take our pumpkin and leave it back there so it could decompose in its natural habitat. Mason thought it was fun at first, then he realized we were leaving it so he decided to go back and get the pumpkin :)

RAMily reunion

Last month Danny, the kids and I drove to Rhode Island to meet up with some of my friends/team mates from collage. Lia flew in from SLC, Jamee from Boston and Katy from RI. We saw the Fordham Rams (my Alumni) play the URI Rams... RAM OFF 2009. There was only 1 girl, Catherine, that I played with when I was a senior (and she is a super senior) I feel old not knowing any of the girls!
